In 2011, the U.S. Army will transfer the 570-acre Fort Monroe post in Hampton to the state government.  What then?  How will the site replete with history be developed?  Will it become a national park?

There are many questions in building the future of the Fort Monroe site. In this encore presentation of What Matters from March 2009, Cathy Lewis takes a look at some of the plans and what some people should be done with the property.

On this edition of What Matters, we're not in our usual studio home.  We're coming to you from a Hampton Roads landmark, a place where generations have gathered for many reasons and one of them is to enjoy a piece of history.  Doumar's Restaurant is home to the first ice cream cone so say the history books and the Smithsonian Institute.

Cathy Lewis sits down at the famous drive-in diner with the venerable, Albert Doumar.  We'll take you "behind the cones" to get the scoop on this local inspiration of success.

Most of us are paying more attention to what we consume.  Between health scares from spinach, tomatoes, and pet food, to concerns about the economic impact of shipping food from great distances, many people are looking to fill their dinner tables closer to home.  There are more and better farmers' markets throughout the region and there’s a growing movement whose goal is to connect consumers to the farmers who grow their food.  It is called community supported agriculture.

On this edition of What Matters, we’ll look at how the movement is taking shape here in Hampton Roads and how farm markets are literally growing the interests of so many consumers.
