Next month marks the 50th anniversary of the desegregation of Norfolk Public Schools – a time of upheaval, social unrest, and change. A lot of attention has been paid to the African American students who bravely crossed the color lines and integrated the schools, but what about the members of the class of 1959? These students lost all but four months of their senior year of high school at a time when “the high school years were our universe”.
